It was a late October night I was alone and decide to take a ride off the Trail up Birdon Rd. I crossed the bridge pulled over and shut the lights out, it was pitch black. I took my flashlight and walked over to one side of the bridge to look in the water for nocturnal critters. As I stepped up on to the edge I noticed a beer can lying on the ground and thought how careless, but quickly dismissed any concern.  When I looked over the edge. I could see two red glowing eyes and then two more. I shut the flashlight off and could feel the dark cool wind on my neck. The darkness was almost overwhelming  and a little freighting so I put the light on.
As I walked past the can I stopped again to look over the bridge, the water was dark and life less like the unlit sky.
I turned to my left and heard the can scrape thinking I had hit it with my pant leg. I walked six feet and then heard the can jump in my direction. When I turned the can was still rocking. I thought that there must be a crab or mouse in the can to make it move like that but at the same time the chill of urgency ran up my spine. I naturally partially accepted my rational explanation, turned and took another step away from the subject of concern. Again I heard the can bounce. I felt the Adrenalin pump I was ready to run away from the invisible man in a can.
I moved the light to my shoe and suddenly found the culprit. I very thin piece of monofiliment line. I knocked off the thread and immediately made my exit happy to know that there was a rational explanation for what had happened. Phew !
